The sales of portable navigation devices are at an all time high. In 2009, more than forty million portable GPS devices were sold worldwide. The United States accounted for fifty-two percent of those sales with an average cost of two hundred and fifty dollars per unit. The wide availability of these devices has meant a significant increase in the number of GPS devices associated with criminal acts. In response to this, the community is faced with the challenge to identify techniques and tool sets specifically designed to examine GPS devices in a manner consistent with the best practices of handling digital evidence.
Our 2 day training course is structured to provide the attendees with the necessary skills to successfully acquire and analyze information obtained from GPS devices in order to increase their agencies core competencies in this highly specialized and increasingly important area. The program of instruction is designed to incorporate a combination of theory and hands-on practical exercises. This course is not intended to be a seminar; rather a hands-on course that will leave the attendees with the skills necessary to conduct forensic examinations of GPS devices. Attendees who successfully complete this program of instruction will receive a certification in the use of Blackthorn2 and the Practices of GPS Forensics.
